IMVU Developer: LaydeeFreakish

When did you become a member here on IMVU?
I joined IMVU on December 5th, 2007.

How much do you know about developing?
Not too much, just the basics.

When did you start developing?
I’m not too sure, but I think it was around Feb. ‘08.

Is it easy to be a developer?
In the beginning, it was very difficult for me to understand the opacity maps and I used to get headaches trying to figure it all out.

What is the first item you developed?
A plain white tube top with a V cut.

What is your latest product?
“Tempt,” which is an Access Pass Only item.

As a developer, what inspires you to do these kinds of products?
I work on whatever catches my eye in real life to make it on IMVU with my added twist.

Have you had a hard time understanding the steps on IMVU previewer?
I pretty much just know the basics on previewer and have no problem with it.

In doing items or products, do you think IMVU rules and regulations are just fair?
As far as the MCG (Minimum Coverage Guide) and Peer Review goes, I have no problem with it. However, this creator credit refund, Price Increase to IMVU products, etc. is just giving me a major headache!

Doing a product is not free, correct? Is it expensive to do the items?
In the beginning I paid 500cr for a submission fee and whatever the dev. fee was. The usual price all together was 1,000cr for one product. Now since my tier/creator level went up, I pay about 300 submission + dev. fee.

Is there any required software in developing?
Yes, a photo editing software such as PaintShop Pro, Photoshop or GIMP, just to name a few.

What advice can you share to all the developers out there on IMVU?
Take your time and don’t rush it. If you are feeling overwhelmed, just save it and continue it another day.

There are beginners here on IMVU. What do you think they can do to learn more about developing?
Check out groups and forums about developing. That’s where all the developers come together and help one another.

Of course I cannot ask you to give away all your developing secrets, but are you willing to share your knowledge? If so, do you have any sites or groups for tutorials?
I learned how to develop by using VixyHart’s youtube tutorial and that’s all I’m giving up! http://www.youtube.com/user/vixyhart
