If you haven’t heard, there’s a site called Twitter and it’s taking over the Internet! All of the techy people, web geeks and Internet addicts have already become addicted to it and when you join, I’m sure you will too!
Twitter is a micro-blogging site. What is a micro-blog? Well, it’s like a blog but instead of really long posts, you have to make very short posts. There are a lot of micro-blogging sites out right now but Twitter is the biggest one by far. With Twitter, you can only make a post that is 140 characters or less.
Do many of you go to school, work, or maybe just walk around somewhere and think, “I wonder what exactly a preppy girl is . . .?” or “What are nerds actually like?”? Here, for you, I have definitions of some well-known social groups so that you will never have to wonder again!
Source: Urban Dictionary
Preppy:
A true preppy is someone who:
Wears, but is not limited to, Polo, Lilly, Brooks Brothers, Lacoste, LL Bean (i.e. duck boots), ribbon belts, prints (i.e. cords with embroidered whales, palm trees, etc.), sweaters tied around the neck, collars always popped, and looks neat and put together. Hair ribbons or ribbon headbands, pearls, and other classic jewelry pull the look together. Preppies are partial to monogrammed and engraved items (i.e. tote bags, oxford shirts, jewelry, money clips, etc.). Colors are always bright (favorites include pink and lime green). Preppies may not always match exactly, but they are always coordinated. Hats are worn (i.e. polo player, Lacoste, Brooks Brothers), but they are unique - not designs you would see in the mainstream or mall.
Preppies often attend prep schools (i.e. Middlesex School, Governor Dummer Academy, and Belmont Hill) followed by New England private colleges.
Why, you may ask? Well, in the virtual world, you all think it’s fun and games when talking to somebody else. But do you realize that there is another human being sitting in the chair on the other end? Have you thought that when you say things you don’t mean, they actually go through to someone else’s eyes? Have you ever said, “Will you go out with me,” or, “I love you,” to somebody in the virtual world when you’re already in a relationship? Would you consider it cheating? Many people do (and some, surprisingly, don’t)!
In my opinion, it is cheating. You are a human being, there is another human being on the other end, and you both have feelings. Imagine telling your spouse, “Oh yeah hun, I’m dating this person online and I told them I loved them today.” You’re telling me that your spouse would be totally okay with that? And it’s the same if you didn’t tell your spouse. You would be keeping it from him! That’s just my opinion, but here are a bunch more:
