Before you even think about entering the IMVU
modeling world, there are two main qualities and
skills a model must have.
-Learn to follow directions
-Meet your deadlines
If you can’t do that,
this is not the career for you.
Having a cute avi does not make you a model.
Taking good pictures, doing the job right, and completing
whatever job you were hired for successfully does.
There are tons of avis out there who never make it
due to lacking these two very important basic skills.
I don’t care if you’ve got the greatest avi of all times.
If you can’t do your job right and on time no one
is going to hire you.
Here’s how to do both.
The ability to follow directions is quite easy. It is
nothing more then paying attention to details.
If someone gives you an assignment, never, and I
mean never ever, just scan through it. Even if you
think you already know how to do whatever is told.
Read everything word for word, so you know exactly
what is expected of you and if for some reason you
don’t understand it:
Don’t be shy! Ask Questions!
Let the person know you are unclear or uncertain
about whatever it is, so they can explain it to you
and clear up the situation.
That way you’ll end up doing your job right, as
opposed to doing it wrong and getting a bad
rep on top of being fired.
Now let’s talk about meeting your deadlines.
This is nothing more than completing your work
on time. When someone gives you a deadline
for an assignment, make sure you do it.
Submit your work on time. There is no excuse
for submitting your work late. Deadlines should
be at the top of your to-do list.
Write it down, save it in your notes, mark your
calendar or do whatever you need to do to make
sure you remember your work is due on that day.
When you don’t meet your deadlines you
make yourself look bad and prove you’re unreliable.
Not only have you let the person down who hired
you and wasted their time, but if that assignment
was crucial, they’ve just been screwed because
you didn’t come through in the end.
What’s worse is now you leave yourself open for
getting a bad rep, and bad news spreads a hell-of-
a-lot quicker than good news.
Don’t be on the models’ not-to-hire list.
If for some reason you know for a fact you can’t
meet your deadline, you need to let the person
who gave you the assignment know immediately.
That way they know in head of time and if you’re
lucky you can arrange another due date.
This is why it’s best to complete your work as early
as possible than to wait to do it at the last minute
or the last day.
Besides, early work completion looks better and says
a lot about you. For one it shows you’re serious, and
so serious you got it done early.
It also shows that you’re reliable and will increase
repeat customers for you. The better your rep, the
better the offers, which means more work for you.
Overall if you want to be a successful model, you
should start by learning to follow directions and
meeting your deadlines.
