Staff Members Speak Out About AviLicious Magazine!

I, BabiiBunnie, went through and asked all of our AviLicious Staff members to write up a little bit on what they thought about the magazine so far; if they liked it, if they didn’t, and why or why not. I also had them write a little bit about themselves so you readers can see our diversity in our magazine’s staff! I hope you enjoy reading these!

AlessaismyidolAlessaismyidol – AviLicious Designer
“The Pros and Cons of AviLicious Magazine:
Well, let me see . . . I have not found any cons with this magazine as long as I have been here, which has only been about a month now. The pros I’ve seen in the magazine are the great articles and interviews and the pictures that everyone has done. Like I said I haven’t seen any cons that I can think of.
A little bit about myself:
Here is a little bit about me, Alessaismyidol a.k.a. AIMI. I am 24 years old and live in Indiana, USA. I have a one-year-old daughter (at the time I wrote this my daughter was only 11 months old, by the time this gets published she would have had her first birthday). I play guitar, sing, do graphics, chat on IMVU, and a lot more stuff I don’t want to name because it will take up too much time. My position in the magazine is a designer. I like what I do. I like to work with the models’ pictures and make them look good. I think I am a help to the magazine because I have a wonderful personality and I always finish assignments on time. I hate to be late with them. I was that way when I was in school. I think that is enough or this is going to be more than one paragraph.”

Laila StephenLaila Stephen – AviLicious Editor
“My name’s Laila a.k.a. Lala. I’m 21 years old and live in Southern California. I have been with the magazine since somewhere around the initial start, back when it was Glamour Magazine, first as a model, now as an editor. I’ve watched all the people come and go in between moves to different forums and sites. One of the most important and obvious ‘pros’ to me is the dedication of ChaCha, our fearless leader. She’s been consistent in her drive to keep this magazine going no matter how hard it’s been on her personally. It’s very inspiring to say the least. From that comes pros such as hard work throughout our staff, and dedication in bringing the best we can to the table for our readers. Basically, it’s the stage hands behind the curtain that makes the show go smoothly and if that was a ‘con,’ you wouldn’t even be reading this right now.
Speaking of ‘cons,’ the only thing that has seemed to be an ongoing problem I suppose has been little activity outside of ‘work’ within the AviLicious community. I do admit to having a helping hand in this problem at times, but it would be nice to have more readers and workers alike around the forums, being lively and social. The magazine was meant to bring all types of people together.
Despite any ‘pros and cons,’ I’m happy and proud to be a part of AviLicious and hope that more people can experience this family (as that is what we truly are) and magazine in the near future. Everybody has their part in making this a success. I believe mine (editing) is important in ensuring the quality of our content so that we are as professional and intriguing as possible. Hopefully AviLicious will last a good amount of time and I will still be here to witness it progress with a smile.”

BabiiBunnieBabiiBunnie – AviLicious Co-Owner and Writer
“I am the Co-Owner of the AviLicious Magazine, and I am also a writer for the magazine! I am very loyal and honest and love everybody in the magazine’s staff. We all help each other out, and have each others’ backs. ‘We Are Family!’ I spend about two or more hours a day to this magazine, checking for new postings, greeting new members, and just looking around. Being a part of the magazine is not hard at all, I love it here. It’s very easy, actually - just be active and you will have fun! If you are interested in joining, but think, ‘I may not have enough time to do this,’ don’t! All you have to do is spend five hours a week to this magazine, hand in assignments on time, and just be around when needed! Our magazine staff is very diverse (all ages, race and sexes), so you will never be ‘left out of the crowd!’
A little about me in real life is I am seventeen years old, but I’ve been told I am very intelligent and mature for my age. I seem to always take on too much to handle, but I always find a way to get through it all. For instance, I am in school right now from 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Also, I am getting into Cosmetology school, plus I work about every day from 4:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. Busy life? I know. Lol, but once I have free time, I love coming on the computer, spending time with friends or, best of all, listening to music and dancing like nobody’s watching! I’m very outgoing, and love to make new friends and meet new people! I am good at giving advice, and I always keep my promises! Well, that’s about it for now. To find out more about me you can visit my IMVU homepage, or go see my AviLicious page on www.aviliciousmagazine.ning.com !”

“A little bit about me:
My name is Emily and I’m 24 years old. I live in Columbus, Ohio, and I pretty much love it here. As a kid, my life wasn’t great. I always got yelled at, I was the one who was forced to work, and I didn’t have much fun as I should have. I was always pressured to get that 4.0 every year by my mom. I guess you can say that the only person there to help me was my sister, because my dad was always kissing up to my mother and never really talking to me about my feelings. But once I graduated from high school, I was like, ‘Good-bye hell, hello freedom,’ and that’s what happened. Over the years I have gotten a better connection with my mother and father but not that much. Now my mind is on friends and this site! I just love being a part of another family where I can get along with them.”

Sk8ergirl1031 Sk8ergirl1031 – AviLicious Senior Editor
“My name is Natalia, but my friends usually call me Nats. I’m the senior editor here at AviLicious, and it’s an extremely important job. It’s up to Laila and me to make sure the magazine looks professional (and it gives us a chance to read all of the amazing articles here! Which, by the way, everyone should do ^_^). In real life I’m involved in figure skating, Youth Volunteer Corps, and Science Olympiad. I’m a sophomore in high school, but taking advanced classes, and even one college course. It’s a full life, but I still have time to check up on here.  =)
AviLicious is a great community; we’re truly a family here. New members always join with a warm welcome and are included right away. I first joined back when ChaCha was just getting started. One day there was a comment on my IMVU home page inviting me to join the group, and I decided, what the heck? So I checked it out, applied to be an editor, and got the job. I wanted to improve my editorial skills because I hope to have a job editing books someday. I had no idea how fun this magazine would be! I’ve not only improved myself, but AviLicious is so much more. It’s a great group of people and I love it.”

Ellonway Ellonway – AviLicious Model
“Pros and Cons of AviLicious Magazine. . . . Well, I think AviLicious is a great magazine and is really coming together quite nicely. The people I’ve had the chance to meet here are all very nice and I’m grateful the magazine gave me the chance to meet them. The articles are interesting and, a lot of times, very informative if not just great fun. I can’t say there are any cons to the magazine. All they ask is that you stay active and I find that I’m constantly playing catch-up, but I don’t mind it one bit because I like all the discussions. I try to log on for an hour or two every day because I am a slow reader and I can’t imagine how far behind I’d be otherwise.
I joined the magazine because I’d read an IMVU magazine before which really interested me and looked great. When my friend told me about AviLicious I thought this would be a great way for me to get involved in such a magazine. We had a contest in our sorority for the top model of our group and I applied and won. The grand prize was a paid admission fee to become an AviLicious model and that’s how I got myself started.”

“A little bit about myself:
My name is Alex, I’m 15, and I love graphics of all kinds. Art and music is my life. I’m a proud marching redskin. I like sports such as football, volleyball, and softball, of course. I like Edgar Allan Poe with a passion, lol. I hope to write a novel or memoir someday. Ellen Hopkins and many more are my inspiration.I have a huge collection of books. All these things are apart of me and make me happy. I’ve always wondered about the Mona Lisa, lol. Um, I like science a lot and hope to major in forensics (like CSI and minor in music and art or creative writing). I love my Photoshop CS3 extended and my computer! I like Pizza Hut’s pizza
with the stuffed crust, yummy! This is random nonsense, I know, but it’s what makes me, me. My past and my knowing, my hope, my present, my being cling to me like bittersweet perfume.”

lavender lavender – AviLicious Staff Member (no position)
“Hi, my name is lavender. There isn’t anything different I can tell you about myself other than what I wrote in my introduction, so check out my page on the AviLicious forum. I initially joined this magazine because my sister is a member, but I really like its whole setup, myself. There are some nice people here and I’d like to make some new friends. I’m basically a newbie so I really don’t have any special positions. I am willing to help out in any way that I can, and I need a lot of help myself, lol. I’m hoping that from this experience here I’ll learn how to do graphics and stuff. New friends help me, lol.
~lavy~”

Amy Amy – AviLicious Designer
“Just a little about me . . .
My name is Amy, just Amy. I am eighteen years old and I live in Sydney, Australia. Basically I have a love of all things artsy, that probably explains why I am here as a designer. I do a lot of photography when I get the chance, I play flute in an orchestra, and I love holidays and traveling. Graphic designing for me is an outlet, somewhere I can express what I am feeling and be proud of the outcome and it gives me a chance to learn new things and to make what I make better. That is why I joined up here on AviLicous Magazine. The people here are so friendly and helpful if ever anyone needs something, it is a fantastic place to work. I think the articles, interviews and pictures in the magazine are great and it would be great to see it grow into so much more. I am honoured to be part of this team.”

DavidsGyrl DavidsGyrl – AviLicious Model
“Okay, hmm . . . pros and cons of the magazine . . . I wrote before that I think a con (being of the age over 35) is that we need more articles to reach more of the ‘vintage’ crowd. Pros . . . I like the recipes part of the magazine and for the younger peeps the articles are good and touch on current events.
I came to AviLicious Magazine to learn how to model, and stumbled on a great bunch of people here! I don’t think I contribute much to the magazine itself, and I feel like its harder for me to promote because of my age level. I don’t have all the blogging lingo or sites to share in that area. What people I have on MySpace, I have tried to get interested in IMVU and they just aren’t into it, so I try to work more here in the forum with clothes and stickers trying that avenue to help advertise our group, and helping anyone who asks for help as long as it’s in my realm of knowledge or know-how.
I love being here, and I love learning all the new tricks and graphics . . . teaching old dogs new tricks and blah blah blah. . . . I love all the new friends I have made here, and I enjoy talking to new people.
I am married to my best friend (really he was my best friend for ten years before we dated), mother of a 21-year-old two-legged child and 14-, 8- and 2-year old 4-legged babies. I am currently working really hard on trying to get my PAWtique off the ground, which includes learning how to advertise and get my name out there, on top of creating all the items that i sell! I am also trying to get my house finished to get it ready for sale which is taking way longer than I want . . .
Well, I guess I am done for now . . .
-Judy”

Durrtysnapp Durrtysnapp – AviLicious Design Manager
“Originally, I joined this magazine because I have a love for art and modeling. I also thought that it would be something fun for me to do, and it caught my eye immediately. I signed up to be a model and was interviewed by KC; I remember that day very well. I was elated to find out that I had made the cut and when I saw my name on the staff list, I just couldn’t have been any happier.
I am currently a proud AviLicious Top Model as well as a Writer and Design Manager. I also help out in other areas when I can, trying my best to do whatever is in my power to make our magazine the best. ^^
I’d like to think that I contribute somewhat to the fun and quirky side of the magazine. I like to do the offbeat things and entertain our readers, as well as inform them. I like to think of neat contest ideas and I love to do any type of graphic design. I have so many ideas floating around up in that li’l brain of mine that it’s almost hard to keep track of them all. :P
What makes me active in this group? Heck, I just love what I do here, and I love everybody who’s a part of it. You all make it so fun for me to be here, and since the day I started I’ve always felt so welcome here. I consider you guys my second family, if you will. I just love to come in here and be a part of it all.
I expect there to be a lot of insight on IMVU fashion of course, since that is what our magazine is based on. But we are planning to be branching out in the near future into sites other than just IMVU, like Meez and Kaneva, and even including real-life fashion tips for all of you. And, of course, we keep it interesting with contests and polls and all that fun stuff. I just expect the magazine to keep growing and to get better and better. :D
So far, my experience at AviLicious has been an amazing journey. I’ve made so many friends, and I’ve found a place that I can call ‘home’ online. This place has always made me feel like I can be who I am, without any boundaries, and the people are just . . . absolutely, insanely awesome! I don’t know what I’d do without AviLicious Magazine. It’s my li’l niche, where I lurk and were I come to have fun. It’s a big part of my online and real life. It may sound like I’m kidding, but I really have met some truly great people here that I don’t plan on losing. (:
I may be known as durrtysnapp or Snapp to most of you, but to the people I’m really close to, I’m just Holly. I’m 20 years old, in college studying marine biology and finding my passion for graphic design as well. I enjoy spending time online and talking to friends that live farther away from me, as I’m not much of a phone person. I’m an upbeat kinda person, always have been, and I’m an animal lover! I love art and writing, I’d have to say that even throughout grade school, it’s been something that I’ve really gotten into. I love to laugh and I love to make people laugh, and as a good friend of mine always says, ‘As long as I think I’m funny, that’s all that matters.’”

Abzo Abzo – AviLicious Designer
“Let’s see . . . my name’s Abby, I’m fifteen years old and currently live in England. I love to be creative, but I don’t show my creations to other people, I usually keep my work to myself and be proud. But now, thanks to AviLicious Magazine, I can be confident with my work, which is a great thing for me to have. That’s one of the great things about this magazine, it allows those who can’t show their skills anywhere else to be recognized and praised. This is one of the main reasons why I joined AviLicious. My experience in this magazine has been a very good one indeed, I would never go back on accepting my position as a writer, it’s really made a difference to the way I feel about the things that I make or write. The only problem is my activeness. Since school has started I’m only able to get on and do assignments and such at certain times, but I won’t let that affect my work. Another good thing about this magazine is that the wide range of articles appeal to so many different people. There are articles on everything from recipes to interviews with some of IMVU’s top developers, which are rare to find, and makes AviLicious all the more unique and amazing. At the moment, no cons spring to mind, probably because this magazine isn’t far from perfect, and I hope to be a part of it for a while to come. :)

Cuky21 – AviLicious Staff Member (no position and no image)
“I am Victoria, I am 22 years old and I’m from Guatemala. I see myself as a happy person; I am kind of shy at first but once I know someone I am very social. I’ve been in the magazine as a model and it has been a great experience, a little hard for myself since I’m pretty busy during weekdays, but it is a great challenge for myself to have this job and learn a lot of new things, especially from the other models. The best part of being an Avilicious Model is having shoots with other models - we can never stop taking pictures because it’s so fun!
During the time that I’ve been here I’ve known a lot of great people and I’ve got very good friends. I believe we are a great team and what makes us more special is that we can count on each other and share a part of our personal lives. I simply love being here and I hope the magazine grows and shows all its potential.”

LexiBramble LexiBramble – AviLicious Designer
“Being new to AviLicious Magazine, there isn’t too much I can say. I have enjoyed my time here and the people are wonderful. The articles have been very informative and I’ve learned a lot. I am one of the graphic designers, though I haven’t really had the opportunity to let myself shine at this. I’m still a little lost about where and what I need to be doing. I’ll get it though.”

TonkahTonkah – AviLicious Model
“It all started about half a year ago, when the magazine had to been turned over to ChaCha. I really didn’t know what I had in mind when I said I would join. I knew ChaCha from previous groups, and had made some pictures for her. I was a little surprised that I was actually accepted in the magazine as a model. Of course, the magazine started to grow and grow, but now I see that it’s not as big as when it first started. Possibly, this is because everything is more strict now and most people couldn’t handle the pressure. It shows that people are dedicated and hard-working to keep up with all of this. I love this magazine because everyone gets things done on time, even if there are little tweaks in between, everyone is treated like family, our Graphic Designers are magnificent, and we probably have got the best people around to write all of our articles. There’s really nothing to put down on the magazine, because everyone is doing fine and we’re not having much trouble, probably only with staff. I might not know much of the magazine because I took a long break, but I do know that it has grown and matured in a very good way! (:”

iRedeemiRedeem – AviLicious Model
“Hi,
My name is iRedeem (Kati). I am sixteen years old and I’m a junior in high school. I’m also one of the top models in the magazine. I currently live in Florida, U.S.A., but I love the North better. I’m very loyal and honest. I’m shy at first, but once you get to know me I will open up to you and we can be really good friends. I was nervous to begin with, but once I joined I was glad that I did. I love everyone in the magazine; they are like my second family. I try my best to be as active as possible but there are times when I miss some stuff. I will catch up to them as soon as possible. I really love this magazine and I wouldn’t want to leave it. ”

Some of our staff members could not write a brief paragraph about our magazine, due to: time off, life issues, or vacations. So, we would like to thank them anyway for being a part of our AviLicious Family! And thank you to everyone who did this! You are what makes this magazine happen!
